We're Goin' Coast 2 Coast... Star Wars Style!

I'm goin' back back to Cali Cali!

This may be old news for some, but I realized I have to update my little Cali adventure to include...

I'm goin' back back to Florida Florida!

It just doesn't roll off the tongue as well/doesn't have a hit song attached to it. But I am going to work on making it a thing so everyone just go with it! ;)

You on board? I'll work on the beat.

In the meantime, back to the story at hand.

Back in January, the wife and I traveled to Disneyland for the first time. Boy was that a different adventure than Disney World. Still awesome - just different.

But of course we weren't just heading out for a visit, we would be taking part in the inaugural Run Disney Star Wars weekend

I'd be tackling all three races (5k, 10k, Half), while the wife took on the Rebel Challenge (10k, Half). We were psyched. Okay I was psyched to run at Disneyland and the wife was geeking out over the whole Star Wars thing. :P See we compliment each other. ;)

We had an amazing vacation and were looking forward to trying to become legacy for the Star Wars race. Legacy means doing the race every year it is run.

On June 16, the wife successfully registered both of us for the second Star Wars weekend at Disneyland (January 15-17, 2016). YAHOO!!!

THEN IT HAPPENED...

Run Disney dropped the announcement on August 25!

There would now be a #DarkSideChallenge at Walt Disney World. What did this mean?

Run Disney was adding a Star Wars race in Florida, April 15-17, 2016.

Hot Damn!

But wait... that would be the same weekend as the Boston Marathon, which I have had the honor of running the last three years with Tedy's Team and the American Stroke Association. I wasn't sure if I would apply for a fourth year - not because I didn't want to help #FightStroke, but I thought a fourth-straight year of fundraising would be too much. So I was wavering on taking a year off. But man it would be tough to be in Boston and not running.

Soooo if not running - why not go to the happiest place on Earth instead. Right?

On September 22, the wife successfully registered us both for the inaugural Star Wars weekend at Disney World. I will be tackling all three races, while the wife will take on the #DarkSideChallenge (10k, Half). WAHOO!!!

Now not only will we be going for the Coast 2 Coast medal (completing a Run Disney race in Disneyland and Disney World in the same calendar year), BUT we will also be completing the Kessel Run Challenge medal (completing the Star Wars races on each coast)!

Oh the bling my friends! The bling!

And the costumes!

Which reminds me - time to start working on those!! ;)

Will Darth Goofy and I see you at one or both of the Star Wars race weekends?
