Weekend Wrap-Up: Friends, #LogOffRace Virtual 10k Recap & Getting Sick

Wait you mean I had a weekend without a marathon to prep for or run? No long run to be had. Whatever will I do with myself? I'll do all the things and none of the things at the same time.

Does that even make sense to anyone? It made perfect sense in my head.

Let's see what the weekend held for me:

Friday morning kicked off with my weekly weigh-in (as always) and while I was disappointed with the number I knew it was going to happen. Stepping on the scale just allowed me to say good bye to the old week and hello to a Fresh Start.

I followed up the weigh-in with a morning of Personal Coaching calls and my final Weight Watchers meeting of the week. A powerful and rewarding way to end the week.

Oh and of course there was Dunkins. I mean that is a given by now, right? :)

Once the work week was over (okay the work week is never really over but the in-person meetings and calls were ;)), it was time to catch up with some friends!

Page and I met up for a fun afternoon 5k and a celebratory beer. Yes 5 days later is still a good time to celebrate the marathon we ran together. :)

She even surprised me with a cute thank you gift that I haven't taken off since.

After a great afternoon of laughs and miles, it was time to get to cleaning my house and grocery shopping for the impending visitors! :) My BFF and her husband would be spending the night so I could get  up at 4:15am and drive them to the airport. I really didn't mind since round trip the drive took me 20 minutes and I was back in bed before 5am! Woo! ;) Plus it was an excuse to spend extra time with them.

Laney and I snuggled and slept for another two hours before I dragged myself out of bed to attend the Saturday morning Weight Watchers meeting. The Friday morning meeting I was attending closed so on Friday I did a weigh-in only at the Boston Store. Now I need a new place to get in the chair and recharge. So back to the Saturday morning 8am meeting I went.

I appreciate this group for many reasons, but I love that they know I am a WW leader (I've even subbed the meeting in the past) but when I sit in the chair I am there for me and treated as a member.

The Weight Watchers meetings are crucial to my success - have been and always will be. It is the place where I feel accepted and understood no matter what.

So when the topic was about "why" you joined/started a healthy living journey, I knew I needed to be in the seat, soaking up the inspiration and motivation from the folks around me. And as always I left rejuvenated and with the BRAVO sticker I wanted for completing the marathon! :)

With a small window before Kelly from Curvyfitgirl would be arriving at my house, I quickly jumped on the treadmill to get a run in.

Who says treadmill runs have to be boring? Minnie Mouse theme for the win! You can't tell, but even my Sparkly Soul headband has Minnie's dots.

By the time I got out of the shower, Kelly was there! Yay! I hadn't seen her since June 2014 when she came to visit. It is amazing how close you can get to someone who you met on the interwebs. Yes that sounds way creepier than it is meant to be. But that is how blends (blogger + friend) roll...

We grabbed the wife and walked across the street for a quick lunch (Tony C's at Assembly Row - yum)

before heading to cheer on the wife in her hockey game.

I think this is the first pic I have with the wife while in her pads. Unfortunately the Boston Lobster's lost 4-3, but she still had a great game in goal.

We were all pretty beat so we opted for a quick walk with the dogs before a low-key dinner at home.

The wife grilled up some steak tips and we paired it with a delicious salad and broccoli. Mmm mmm good! Plus since we were home I used all my magical gizmos - food scale, measuring cups, etc - to make sure the entire thing was tracked properly. #Dork

Once dinner was done, it was time for a little couch and puppy snuggling time.

I think Laney found a new BFF. <> Just some dirt in my eyes... :/

(Note: As I typed that Laney came, plopped herself on my lap and put her head on the laptop. I think she knows I'm talking about her!)

Like the cool kids we are, we turned in early-ish. I felt lame, but appreciated the rest as I was starting to come down with a cold. Wonder if the hours in the rain on Monday had anything to do with that?

On Sunday we started the day off with a beautiful walk to get coffee, a solid home-made brunch (thanks again wife) and bid adieu to Kel. It was a quick 24 hour visit, but one that did a lot of good for my soul.

After Kel left, I hit up the grocery store again to make sure we had food for the week. By the time I got back it was time for the wife to head out to the second and final game of the weekend. (Which they won, 4-2)

While the wife was at her game, it was time for me to knock out my #LogOffRace virtual 10k hosted by Gone For A Run.

Now I take my virtual races as seriously as my in-person races. Are we shocked with how I dressed for my treadmill run on Saturday?

My original plan was to run a 5k and say I completed the 10k over the last two days. But that didn't happen. The weather was gorgeous and the legs felt good.

I made sure to snap a mid-run selfie. You know so we knew the race happened. :) I didn't find the ironic part of taking the pic until a blog reader pointed out that the race was called "Log Off. Shut Down. Go Run," which implied leaving the technology at home. Ummm... oops?

I used my normal running route for the 10k and really focused on listening to my body. I didn't want to push it too hard since it was still recuperating from the marathon.

I was pleased with a 53:33 (8:38 min/mile pace) time. To make the race more realistic I should've set up water stops, but I was too busy enjoying the fact that I would be winning the race. Yes the results came in and I finished 1/1. Woo hoo! Go me! After doing some media spots to celebrate the race win ;), it was time for the post-race celebratory beer.

I told you folks virtual races need to be taken seriously! Oh and I most definitely wore the medal all day long! :)

The rest of Sunday was spent in bed relaxing. I had been so go go go for weeks that it was time to take a step back, turn off the computer and enjoy my family. Snuggle time and cold meds for all.

Overall it was one amazing weekend with laughs, smiles, hugs, love, running and beer. What more could a girl ask for?

What was the highlight of your weekend?
