It's been my HONOR to be a part of the Tedy's Team family since October 2012!
In the past 10 years, Tedy's Team has worked to raise money and awareness on behalf of the American Stroke Association:
Tedy asked the American Stroke Association to work with him to create “Tedy’s Team,” a group of runners raising money for the American Stroke Association and training to complete the Boston Marathon® and the Falmouth Road Race. Their participation supports Tedy Bruschi’s fight against stroke and honors both the survivors and the loved ones lost to America’s No. 5 leading cause of death.
In addition to the dollars being raised, an equally important issue for Tedy's Team is the increase in awareness of stroke and recognition of its warning signs. Tedy’s Team is striving to reach as many people as possible in its message of recognizing the warning signs and acting appropriate when seeing them -- calling 9-1-1 immediately.
I have a strong personal connection to strokes as both of my grandparents are stroke survivors as well as my wife's father.
Through the help of virtual runs, fundraisers and amazing donations from family, friends and blog readers I have raised $23,435 to Fight Stroke, while completing 4 marathons (3 Boston Marathon, 1 Rock 'n' Roll Nashville) and 1 Falmouth Road Race with Tedy's Team.
So what's next?
I will be tackling the historic Falmouth Road Race in Cape Cod (Falmouth, MA) with Tedy's Team on August 16. Wahoo!
My goal is to hit $25,000 raised in honor of my grandparents and father-in-law. I am $1,565 away from that outstanding milestone.
The Falmouth Road Race is an internationally known event. Runners come from ALL over the world to participate. It's crazy to think the race started 43 years ago with just 92 people participating in the first race. 92!
The 7-mile race - which will have over 11,000 participants this year - has a unique origin story. Please check it out here.
I am not only looking forward to running in honor of my Stroke Heroes in my third Falmouth Road Race, but I will also be running with a couple of amazing teammates.
Page and Dan are two of the most inspirational people I know. I am lucky to call them friends and teammates.
I cannot even wait.
If you are interested in helping me to #FightStroke, please feel free to donate here. I appreciate all of your support over these past 2+ years!
Will I see YOU at Falmouth?
